Effect of transmission fiber and amplifier noise on optical chaos synchronization

Optical chaos propagation has few constraints peculiar to itself which do not become as significant in conventional nonchaotic optical communication. We have investigated the effects of transmission fiber nonlinearities, dispersion and noise of erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) on chaotic signal synchronization in lumped and distributed configuration. It is found that the effects of fiber dispersion can be easily compensated; however, the effects of fiber nonlinearity on chaos cannot be overdone and must be avoided. Three distinct configurations with different combinations of standard telecommunication fiber, dispersion compensation fiber and lumped and distributed EDF for amplification are analysed. The results are compared in terms of sync diagrams and noise figure. The chaos after propagation through distributed amplification performs better as compared to lumped amplification. Also, a new quantitative measure for the calculation of deviation in sync diagram of chaos is introduced.     

Polymeric Three-Dimensional Crystal Structure of a Tributyltin(IV) Derivative with Acetylene Dicarboxylic Acid

Abstract

A novel polymeric complex has been synthesized by refluxing disodium acetylene dicarboxylate with tributyltin chloride in dry methanol. The solid-state structure of the complex has been determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. The tin(IV) metal exhibits distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry. Each carboxylate group of the ligand acts in a bidentate fashion, linking adjacent metal atoms to produce polymeric chains, which are cross-linked into a three-dimensional network.     

Synthesis,Characterization, and Semi-Empirical Study of Organotin(IV) Complexes with 4-(Hydroxymethyl)piperidine-1-carbodithioic Acid: X-Ray Structure of Chlorodimethyl-(4-hydroxymethyl piperidine-1-carbodithioato-S,S′)tin(IV)

Abstract

Organotin complexes with the general formulae R₂SnL₂, R₂Sn(Cl)L, and R₃SnL have been synthesized where R = CH₃, n-C₄H₆, C₆H₅, C₆H₁₁, and L = 4-(hydroxy methyl)piperidine-1-carbodithioic acid. The newly synthesized complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, NMR (¹H, ¹³C and ¹¹⁹Sn), and, for one example, a single crystal x-ray structure. The FT-IR data shows the bidentate nature of the ligand. This coordination behavior is also confirmed by semi-empirical study. In the solid state, diorganotin complexes exhibit the penta/hexacoordinated geometry, whereas the triorganotin(IV) complexes show the five coordinated geometry. ¹¹⁹Sn NMR data reveal that triorganotin(IV) complexes exhibit the four coordinated geometry in solution, whereas the diorganotin(IV) compounds show the higher coordination, probably five or six. X-ray diffraction analysis of complex (2) shows a square pyramidal geometry around the tin atom on the basis of τ value.

Synthesis,Characterization, and In Vitro Antimicrobial Activity of Methyleneamine‐Linked Bis‐heterocycles

A new class of methyleneamine‐linked bis‐heterocycles that exhibit antimicrobial activity was synthesized. Bromination of 1 followed by condensation with thiourea gave 3 . The reaction of 3 with propargyl bromide in dry toluene under inert atmosphere led to the formation of 4 . Its subsequent reaction with different nitrile oxides using CuSO₄.5H₂O–sodiumascorbate system in a 2:1 mixture of water and tert‐butyl alcohol yielded the title compounds 6a , 6b , 6c , 6d , 6e , 6f , 6g , 6h , 6i , 6j , 6k , 6l in good yields. The identities of these compounds were confirmed following elemental analysis, IR, ¹H, ¹³C NMR, and mass spectral studies. All the title compounds exhibited pronounced in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activities.     

2‐Hydroxy‐1,2,3,6‐tetrahydro‐azulen‐6‐carboxylic Acid Ethyl Ester—A Novel Precursor for a New Class of Liquid Crystalline Materials

A novel approach for the syntheses of carbene adduct 4 is reported. A ring-enlargement strategy was employed for the synthesis of precursors 5 and 6 and established the mechanism of the formation of azulene derivative 6. Synthesis of target precursor 13, a novel precursor for the synthesis of new mesogenic materials, and its various halogenated derivatives (14–16) was carried out.     

Isolation and biological evaluation of chromone alkaloid dysoline,a new regioisomer of rohitukine from Dysoxylum binectariferum

The chromone alkaloid dysoline (1), a new regioisomer of rohitukine (2) along with rohitukine and rohitukine-N-oxide (3) were isolated from the stem barks of Dysoxylum binectariferum. The structure of dysoline (1) was determined by extensive 2D-NMR studies and the absolute configuration was established by NOESY and CD spectra. Dysoline (1) consisted of a 5,7-dihydroxy-2-methylchromone nucleus substituted with a 2′-hydroxylated N-Me piperidine ring at the C-6 position. Dysoline differs from rohitukine by the position of the piperidine ring on the chromone nucleus. Dysoline displayed promising cytotoxicity in HT1080 fibrosarcoma cells with an IC₅₀ of 0.21 μM, and also displayed significant inhibition of proinflammatory cytokines TNF-α and IL-6.
